Joan Strzelecki wants to take us on a rafting adventure late spring in Oglesby, IL about 8 miles south of I-80. Depending on how fast the river is flowing, the trip will last approximately 3 hours and guarantee enough whitewater to get us wet! A change of clothing is recommended.
DATE/TIME:   June 2, 2018, 10:30 am
LOCATION: Vermillion River Rafting, 779 North 2249th Rd, Oglesby, IL   61348 815-667-5242
Check out the website: www.vermillionriverrafting.com
Their safety video that must be watched before they will let people out on the river.  The video can be viewed on their web site or at the put-in spot.
Depending on how fast the river is flowing, the rafting trip lasts about 3 hours.  A couple of the whitewater rapids pretty much guarantee that you will get wet.  They recommend that rafters bring a change of clothes or wear waterproof clothing.  We will bring a pop-up tent to the take-out area for those who want to change clothes before going out to lunch.

Vermillion River Rafting is located almost 8 miles south of I-80, just off of Rte. 178.

They would need a final head count 2 weeks prior to the date selected (May 19).

Lunch for those who survive and aren’t too cold and wet will be at Joy’s & Ed’s Supper Club, 113 Mill St, N Utica 61373 815-667-4850.

If the weather does not look promising for rafting, the backup plan would be to hike Matthiessen or Starved Rock State Parks.

We would meet at the Dells Area off of North 25th Rd. (also just off Rte. 178.)  If it’s REALLY lousy, Starved Rock State Park has a trolley system & tours.  We would meet at the Starved Rock Visitor’s Center.

The trip is being hosted by Joan Strzelecki.  If you are interested, contact her NOW in order to reserve a spot.  For Joan’s contact information, email club50_120@yahoo.com and look for “Whitewater Rafting (6/2/18)” in the auto response.  This is an unmanned email address so don’t respond to this address but rather to Joan.
